I thought I would post the dates for September/October so everyone know what is going on!

Thursday September 3 - 7.30 - 10ish
Thursday September 24 - 7.30 - 10ish

NO GROUP THURSDAY OCT 1 as Jenny will be away

so then in October

Thursday October 8 - 7.30 - 10ish
Thursday October 22 - 7.30 - 10ish
Thursday October 29 - 7.30 - 10ish

Help me, Blogless Mary!!!

With all my wedding preparations, I don't think I'll manage to get to Perle's before the big day.
Mary, can you please tell me where I can get a pair of those awesome cufflink backs.

Finally....

have something to show you guys! 4 weeks to this. Nikki says it's always like that, as we are learning all the little things. I spent a whole session unpicking!

It's actually seersucker, so I had to fuse wadding first then interfacing, not the other way round, or I would have lost the 'seer-sucker-ness'- know wot I mean?

It had it's first outing today- now I want to change the strap! I'm terrible.

Cufflinks

I've decided to make my partner some cufflinks as a gift for our wedding day.
(Lucky he doesn't read this blog).

I'm going to make some covered buttons using these images of our children:



Then, I'll stick them on to cufflink backings.
Mary, can I buy a pair from you at the next Perle's?

EDIT - 11th June : I can't get there next week but will be there first Thurs in July.

About last night ....

A small group and lots of fun.

Justine had a shy moment while making some sweet 'quiet time pillows'.


Cath made some funky pink coasters using CDs and some leopard print. Lovely!!!


I also had a shy moment, hiding behind my latest quilting effort:

Labels?

Quick question .....

Where do you guys get your fabric labels / tags made?

I want some little 'patch andi' labels to attach to quilts, bags, pillows, etc.

All suggestions appreciated.

Mum made the cheesecake while I busted out these lastminute.com pressies for tomorrow. Thanks Mary and everyone for your suggestions yesterday. One headband is denim on one side - in this photo, it's wearing an invisibility cloak but it really is there.

Ok, completely forgot what I was originally supposed to post about, but found that book we were talking about, in The Book Depository, which we were also talking about!

Good news and Bad news.

I am not able to come for the next 6 weeks (that's the bad news, for me anyway!) as I am doing a bag course with Nikki (that's the good news). So please do lots of posting so I can catch up!

Sugar and Spice, Frogs and Toads

I put the call out tonite for hot tips on handmade birthday gifts. My brain didn't cope with the plethora of suggestions - I don't want to miss any. Library bags, Tote, headbands, hairclips..what else was there?? Anyone else know of some sure fire hits?? Thanks a mucho

I worked on finishing a doll for my little one Mia, she just needs a little work on her hair and some clothes! I also worked on Justine's second sock which was intended for her birthday LAST year (ahem it's her birthday tomorrow). Happy Birthday Luv!
Other projects happening included a first time zip on a cushion :), baby balls, badge making, quilting, crochet, knitting and hand sewing.

Look what I found under the table

of Fi's sewing haha. I honestly was only looking for a scrap or 2 to cover a button......hmm, how will I put it to good use? Any suggestions?

As a devoted scrap collector, I am truly thankful for this blessing of fabric.....I jut hope I can do it justice! Thanks Fii!

Up Up and away

This lovely bloke I know caught the train to bendigo to meet me so he could drive and I could stitch the binding on the way back to melb. Done in time for delivery on Sunday for christening. Photo's also taken by bloke while I faffed about getting ready so blame him for any lighting (etc) ishewws. Rocket fabric from amitie - waaaayyy too cute to chop up.

2nd Session - Thursday February 12, 2009

Second meet up last night. A few of the same from last weeks session and some new faces. It's working out nicely being a weekly get . gets to chat and be involved in what's going on. A few of us were quilting, paper piecing, making softies, crocheting, stamping...Lot's of different skills.
Speaking of stamping, Holly made us all one of her delicate hand carved stamps to take home!

1st session -Thursday Feb 5,2009

A small group to kick of the start of what feels like a sweet thing!
There were seven of us and we managed to get some things done amongst the eating and laughing.
I'd discovered a few nights before that there was already a "crafty minx" so I asked you all to come up with a new name. I loved them all! Fi's was the one I chose in the end as I love Perle 8 cotton and it sounded like a 50's soul group!! So I was sold.
It was great to finally meet Michelle, always ace to see Cathy (get back to blogging would ya!) and Holly,Annette and my mate Mindy made it all a great night.
